So, one of my goals for 2013 is to blog more!  Before the new year, I was blogging consistently at least once a week.  I want to challenge myself this year to blog more, and blog consistently.  Ive come up with a weekly schedule for blogging and am really going to try to stick with it!  The fact that I am publicly announcing this will give me a reason to stick to it! 🙂  I may be pushing myself too hard with this, but thankfully, its a personal goal so if I fail :/ I will only be letting myself down!  SO, without further adieu, here is my blogging schedule for this year:

Monday-Manic Monday 🙂

Tuesday-Black and White photos

Wednesday-Whatever!  Could be anything…or nothing at all! 🙂

Thursday-sessions/weddings

Friday-52 week project  Ive been wanting to do one of these for a while now, and now I have an excuse to!  Wish me luck! 😉

Sunday-havent decided on this yet, and it may be that I dont do anything….we’ll see

So what do you think??  I would LOVE to hear suggestions and critiques on my new blog posts for 2013.  Please leave comments, I would appreciate it! 🙂

Im also implementing something called 15 on 15.  Im probably really late on this, but I learned about it through another photographer who I follow.  If anyone is interested in doing this along with me I would LOVE for you to!  Please comment at the end of this post if you would like to participate and feel free to post your entries on my facebook business page!  I would love to follow along with you, and please tell your family and friends about it too!  It is going to be a fun project and if we could get at least 15 people to commit, how awesome would that be?!?!  Basically what this means is that on any given day during the month, you will snap 1 photo during each hour of the day.  For me, the “15” works out great because we are all up by 7 am and the kids are in bed by 9pm.  Some days it could be more or less so the pictures will vary…not a problem! 🙂  Then, on the 15th of every month, blog/post the images.  Hope that makes sense!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! 🙂

Yay!  I am really excited about new things to come and am looking forward to challenging myself in new ways.  🙂

And since today is “Whatever Wednesdays” I am dedicating this blog post for my bedroom makeover.  I wish I had done this for my living room, because that was a HUGE transformation!  Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos, but I learned from my mistakes! 🙂  My next big project for our house is my bedroom!  This June, we will have been in our home for EIGHT years now!  Sadly, I have done NOTHING with our room….until NOW!  I am finally ready for a transformation!!  I am so excited because I finally know exactly what I want….its just going to take time…and lots of it!  I know I am posting this now, but to be honest, this project will not be finished for MONTHS!  Money is one big factor, but I also have found that when I do things a little bit at a time, I am able to….be more picky, if you will, with the decisions I make with purchases.  Thankfully, I have 80% of the furniture and will have some fun projects coming up soon. 🙂  I cannot wait for the big reveal!  Below is a “before” of our bedroom…PLEASE excuse the mess!  Unfortunately, our bedroom is the room where all the things go that do not have a place in our home.  It has become our junk room to say the least!  I am sure that many families can relate to this, but I am so ready for a change!  Now that I finally have my living room in order, I would love to have a haven to retreat to at the end of the day.  I have a feeling that once this is all done, I will be spending much more time in my room! 🙂

And below is a rough idea on the “theme” of our new bedroom.  I hope it’s not too confusing!  PIN IMAGEAnd here are a couple of shots of Kaleigh…she scares me!!!  Always flipping!

Before I begin Manic Monday I just want to say a few words in regards to the recent events.  I know how much this has shocked us as a country, but I cannot even begin to imagine what the families and loved ones in CT are going through right now.  Every second of every minute of every day they spend in anguish and heartache.  I keep thinking to myself, I have kids this age and I have no idea what I would do if I were in their situation.  I just cannot fathom it.  I have no words.

Before Friday, the thought of anything like that happening at Kaleigh’s school never crossed my mind.  Seeing her leave this morning scared me.  As a parent, I should not have to fear sending my child to school, but this morning as she left her home with smiles, I was left with uncertainty and the feeling of helplessness. Today I have a new appreciation and respect for teachers and faculty because they truly do everything in their power to help protect our children.  Thank you to all those who protect our children and our country each and every day.

Today I will wear green and white to honor the victims and their families.  I will send a card to them to express my condolences.  I will donate money to help these families during this difficult time.  I will do everything that I can to show that I care and that my heart if broken and that I grieve alongside them.  In the end though, there is nothing that anyone can do to fill the hole that will forever remain in their hearts.  Please pray for those families, the children, faculty, and all involved in the tragedy, their community, and our country.

Honestly, this feels so mundane to write, but I want to maintain some normalcy.  So here is a recap of our weekend.  Friday afternoon we left to visit my mom in North Carolina.  We spent the weekend there with her and the kids had a great time visiting and having an early Christmas with her.  It was a relaxing time, especially knowing that this week will be super busy!  I cannot believe that in exactly one week’s time it will be Christmas Eve.  This month went by entirely too fast!  In just a matter of weeks it will be 2013.  The start of a new year!  This week will be spent baking, last minute Christmas shopping, and just trying to spend quality time with the family despite the rush of this season.  I hope that everyone can take some time to slow down and remember what is most important during this time of year.  Its so easy to fall into the busyness of the season, but now, especially, take the time to be with family and let everyone around you know that they are important and loved.  Hope everyone has a great week!

I had SUCH a fun time at with my holiday sessions this year!  I always love seeing regular clients and meeting new ones! 🙂  The first family on the blog today is the “B” family.  They have been with me from the very beginning of my career as a photographer.  I know they can attest to the growth of my art and I am just SO excited when our annual sessions come!  You can view their session from last year here.  Can you believe how much they have grown?!?!  They are the sweetest family ever and I dont think I have ever seen Kasey or Paul without a smile on their face.  They are SO patient and loving with their children and such a breath of fresh air.  I so wish I had their patience when it comes to wild children haha!  This year, Kasey decided to do a fun urban session downtown.  Unfortunately, we had to cancel our first session due to rain and our rescheduled session day came around and what do you know….it was raining!  Well, Kasey being so optimistic said, “Lets do it!”  They are such troopers and the kids didnt complain once!  They were so full of energy and laughter.  These are a few of my faves from our session! 🙂 PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGEHa!  LOVE these images below!  100% real… PIN IMAGEAnd this! This was my first session with this sweet little boy below.  He is so adorable and is the happiest little baby!  He just smiled and smiled the entire session.  I love this stage when babies are starting to sit up and really showing their personalities.  They dont have a care in the world and life is full of happiness.  It wasnt hard getting him to laugh and I love the shots of him and his Mommy below!  Thank you Maribeth for our session together, I hope you enjoy your photos and I look forward to working with you again! 🙂

I had the pleasure of working with this sweet family last year during my mini sessions and again for his one year session last spring!  I could not believe how much he has grown in such a short time, but I was so excited to do their family portraits again this year!  Keenyn has the sweetest smile ever and I honestly think he is the happiest child haha!  His face lights up when his mom and dad sing his favorite songs or say his favorite phrases.  I loved watching the interaction between him and his parents.  He is very much loved!  Thank you so much for another great session with you all!  I always enjoy seeing you and I cant wait for our next session! 🙂  PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGESuch a lovely family! PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGELove these! PIN IMAGEMy favorites 🙂 PIN IMAGE

My next family is the “L” family!  I have known them for years and was so excited when Elizabeth said she was interested in a family session.  We met at Maymont and I was thrilled with the spot we found…it had beautiful light during our shoot and I was so happy with the photos!  These children were just precious!  Full of energy, lots of giggles, and sibling love.  I hadn’t seen them in a few years so to actually see in person how much they have grown was mind blowing!  I think Turner was about Julia’s age(or a bit older) when I last saw him and Julia was just a year!  And how cute is Elizabeth’s style?!?  I love all of their outfits and how coordinated they all look!  She did a great job with the wardrobe!  There are so many great images from our session together and I LOVE their Christmas cards! 🙂 🙂  Thank you “L” family for meeting with me for your holiday portraits, I hope you love your photos as much as I do! 🙂 PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGEThis photo below is the front of their cards and I LOVE it!!! My last family is the “C” family!  I have known Cooper since he was a baby!  I did his 1st year milestone series and it still amazes me at how quickly he has grown and how fast time flies!  When I saw him this last time, he was TALKING!  I was blown away at how well he was talking!  Even when I look at these photos now I still laugh because he just has the cutest personality.  Everything is new and exciting for him and he is so interested in the world around him.  Every time he heard a noise, he would cup his hand up to his ear and say very excitedly, “Listen!….listen….whats that?”  It was beyond cute!  He has the most beautiful brown curly hair and big blue eyes that make my heart melt!  Love this little boy!  And Amy is so great with him, so sweet and gentle.  I know she love him to death.  They are such a beautiful family and I see where Cooper gets his good looks from because Amy is gorgeous!!  Thank you Amy for allowing me to photograph you and your sweet family again!   PIN IMAGELook. at. that. smile!
