Now that I have a theme for Tuesdays, I can finally get around to posting these!  If you missed the blog entry on my new blogging calender, you can check it out here!  The photos below are from this past summer, but I never got around to posting them! 🙁  I had good intentions, but things just got a little crazy and I completely forgot about it!  We went to Virginia Beach for a couple of days and these are just a few photos at the hotel.  Carter is really into “razing” as he likes to call it so I just had to capture him grooming himself lol.  He is very focused during this time….when Kaleigh was this age, I DREADED bedtime because brushing teeth was always a struggle.  Thankfully, Carter really enjoys this time of day.  He loves to “raze”, brush his teeth, and even use mouthwash!!!  Its really entertaining to watch haha!

Anyway, I love this set of photos and had this post ready for blogging well before I came up with the idea of “black and white” for blogging on Wednesdays.  My posts usually consist of color photos, but sometimes, images just scream black and white!  To me, these were meant to be just that….. PIN IMAGECant believe how short his hair was!  He really news a cut! Good morning friends!  I hope you are doing well today. 🙂  Its been a couple of weeks since I’ve done a Manic Monday….the last two Mondays have been holidays so Ive taken off. 🙂  To start off, we had a WONDERFUL Christmas and New Year!  We got to spend a lot of time with family over the holiday and the kids had a blast on their break.  We didnt do too much other than a few Christmas plays, movie watching, Christmas parties, a couple of birthday celebrations, and of course, celebrating Christmas and the New Year.

The kids got everything they wanted and MORE for Christmas!  Kaleigh’s favorite present was an IPod Touch from her Nana and American girl doll from Mema and Carter’s favorite toys were a TMNT(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle) figurine, power ranger figurine, and Spiderman/Batman’s cave.  Surprisingly, he wasnt that interested in his gift from Santa(a DS) but has since then played with it quite a few times.  All in all, it was a great Christmas and we enjoyed seeing their faces light up with each new gift opened.

One of the biggest surprises for me was the day that Kaleigh had to go back to school.  I set her alarm for her on her IPod and before I even was out of bed, she was dressed and playing sweetly with Carter.  I loved hearing their little giggles in the morning…warmed my heart. 🙂  She has been very responsible with it too!  She keeps up with and really doesnt take it out of the house.  She actually chooses to keep it at home to keep it safe!  She has been doing really well with keeping up with her glasses as well, they are so adorable on her and she loves them!

Friday evening, Kaleigh and Carter played outside with some neighborhood kids(they always end up at our house…totally fine with me!)  Makes me feel better that I know where they are and what they are doing. 😉  After, Kaleigh’s “sister” Leah came over and played for a while…it was a pretty perfect day for a kid!  Saturday, they spent the day with their cousin, Hylton and had a blast!  We are going to try to do a once a month playdate with them because they love seeing each other and really get along well.  While they were having fun, Jay and I took a trip to Home Depot to get supplies for the first project of our room makeover!  I got a really nice piece of furniture from the Goodwill for $50 and am going to refinish it!  After, we went to Target to pick up a few things that I have been wanting for our room and then it was back home to start the project.  Technically, I didnt do anything but make the purchases.  It took Jay a couple of hours to sand the dresser and I helped with the painting, but that was about it!  I am not really a “hands on” person unless it comes to photo taking and decorating haha!  I have lots of ideas about things I want to do, but I usually leave the handy work to Jay. 🙂

One of my goals in the last couple of weeks has been to come up with a consistent blogging calender.  Its pretty simple, but I am excited because I will now have consistency with my blog!  I hope you all like it!  You can check it out here!!

If you havent heard, Im going to attempt the project 52 this year!  Each week I will take a picture based on a theme and post… I may or may not stick to that theme each week, but I will certainly try.  🙂  This week’s theme is Resolution.

One of my resolutions this year is to take more photos of my kids being kids!  I feel as though I have drifted away from the kind of photography I love and I really want to find my way back.  I hope this will help!  PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGE

Well, I am finally getting around to posting this session!  We had been talking about doing a session for a long time now and the time finally came!  My brother in law and his wife just moved into their first home and wanted to document it!  It was more of a mini session and I must admit, I always have fun with these two!  Below are some favorites from our session…..I was so happy to see some of the photos on their Christmas cards this year!

So, one of my goals for 2013 is to blog more!  Before the new year, I was blogging consistently at least once a week.  I want to challenge myself this year to blog more, and blog consistently.  Ive come up with a weekly schedule for blogging and am really going to try to stick with it!  The fact that I am publicly announcing this will give me a reason to stick to it! 🙂  I may be pushing myself too hard with this, but thankfully, its a personal goal so if I fail :/ I will only be letting myself down!  SO, without further adieu, here is my blogging schedule for this year:

Monday-Manic Monday 🙂

Tuesday-Black and White photos

Wednesday-Whatever!  Could be anything…or nothing at all! 🙂

Thursday-sessions/weddings

Friday-52 week project  Ive been wanting to do one of these for a while now, and now I have an excuse to!  Wish me luck! 😉

Sunday-havent decided on this yet, and it may be that I dont do anything….we’ll see

So what do you think??  I would LOVE to hear suggestions and critiques on my new blog posts for 2013.  Please leave comments, I would appreciate it! 🙂

Im also implementing something called 15 on 15.  Im probably really late on this, but I learned about it through another photographer who I follow.  If anyone is interested in doing this along with me I would LOVE for you to!  Please comment at the end of this post if you would like to participate and feel free to post your entries on my facebook business page!  I would love to follow along with you, and please tell your family and friends about it too!  It is going to be a fun project and if we could get at least 15 people to commit, how awesome would that be?!?!  Basically what this means is that on any given day during the month, you will snap 1 photo during each hour of the day.  For me, the “15” works out great because we are all up by 7 am and the kids are in bed by 9pm.  Some days it could be more or less so the pictures will vary…not a problem! 🙂  Then, on the 15th of every month, blog/post the images.  Hope that makes sense!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! 🙂

Yay!  I am really excited about new things to come and am looking forward to challenging myself in new ways.  🙂

And since today is “Whatever Wednesdays” I am dedicating this blog post for my bedroom makeover.  I wish I had done this for my living room, because that was a HUGE transformation!  Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos, but I learned from my mistakes! 🙂  My next big project for our house is my bedroom!  This June, we will have been in our home for EIGHT years now!  Sadly, I have done NOTHING with our room….until NOW!  I am finally ready for a transformation!!  I am so excited because I finally know exactly what I want….its just going to take time…and lots of it!  I know I am posting this now, but to be honest, this project will not be finished for MONTHS!  Money is one big factor, but I also have found that when I do things a little bit at a time, I am able to….be more picky, if you will, with the decisions I make with purchases.  Thankfully, I have 80% of the furniture and will have some fun projects coming up soon. 🙂  I cannot wait for the big reveal!  Below is a “before” of our bedroom…PLEASE excuse the mess!  Unfortunately, our bedroom is the room where all the things go that do not have a place in our home.  It has become our junk room to say the least!  I am sure that many families can relate to this, but I am so ready for a change!  Now that I finally have my living room in order, I would love to have a haven to retreat to at the end of the day.  I have a feeling that once this is all done, I will be spending much more time in my room! 🙂

And below is a rough idea on the “theme” of our new bedroom.  I hope it’s not too confusing!  PIN IMAGEAnd here are a couple of shots of Kaleigh…she scares me!!!  Always flipping!

I will keep you updated on the progress of everything!  Thanks for taking the time view the blog today!
