Dwayne and Leah’s story is a special one…I felt it best that they tell it in their own words so here goes!
From Leah……”Ten years ago after moving from Florida, Dwayne and I met at a Halloween party.” After about a year of dating, I became pregnant with Nyah (our 7 year old) and he was already a stepdad to Alicya (14yr old). We bought a home and on our first Christmas- Nyah was 6 months old and Alicya 7- Dwayne handed me a little box that I could so obviously tell that he struggled to wrap with scraps of paper from the presents we had wrapped earlier that previous night. It was a beautiful mess. The kids were in our bed and he handed it me as the girls watched. I opened it and he, so casually,(like ‘Wanna go to dinner?’) asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ I cried (of course) and said ‘I do.’ It has taken us 8 years from then to get to today. We definitely have had ups, downs and almost split within that time frame. My brother-in-law got sick with cancer and we weren’t sure if he would make it. We didn’t plan our wedding for 4 years because we wanted to wait on his recovery to make sure he could be there as he is important to us. Now that Matt is in remission we moved forward with our plans.”
A little about the newlyweds! “Dwayne and I are very different from one another. He is from the country and I, from the city. He is very laid back and I am very hyped up. We definitely compliment each others strengths and weaknesses. We have grown together these last 10 years and have become parents together and built a comfortable life with each other. I love him more than anything in this world, more than I have ever loved him before. I am so grateful the cards played in our favor. Patience was definitely our test in the game. We win!”
Dwayne and Leah were married on a beautiful Friday evening with close friends and family. It was so wonderful seeing how happy they were and I enjoyed capturing their special day! Below are some favorites from their wedding day! Congrats again Leah and Dwayne!
