A little recap from last week…..Kaleigh had a great time at girl scout camp evening shade this year! I think this year is going to be a big year for her troop. They are going into middle school so there will be a lot of changes and I just hope that they can all come together and be there for each other.
I definitely accomplished the “do something fun this weekend!” This is the first time we have really done something as a family this summer! Usually I am working weekends and during the week, by the time Jay gets home, that leaves little time to do anything! SO, we woke up early Saturday morning, loaded the car, and headed to Williamsburg! Our first stop was Water Country.…the kids and I have never been so it was a brand new adventure for us! It was a perfect day–not too hot and the crowds werent *too* bad! We were there a total of NINE hours and the kids would have stayed there longer if Jay and I hadnt been so tired! Needless to say, they had a blast and I am so glad that we went! After, we drove to our hotel, where, if you can believe it, the kids were STILL going strong! Bouncing around, chasing each other….for anyone with kids who has stayed at a hotel before, you know what I am talking about! Ahhh! We got pizza and tried to settle them down….Jay and I were asleep within minutes after laying in the bed while the kids stayed up giggling until who knows what time!
The next morning we woke up, ate breakfast and headed to Go Ape! This was a first for all of us and the kids had a really great time! Kaleigh has always been a dare devil, but Carter really surprised me this weekend with how brave he was! He went down on a few scary rides at Water Country and I thought for sure he would be too afraid to go across some of the obstacles at Go Ape, but he did it and never expressed being scared! I was so proud of him! The cutest thing was when he was going across the tight rope…he asked me, “Mom, can you sing some circus music for me?” Haha!! And you can bet I did! We did the junior tree top adventure because Carter didn’t meet the height requirements for the big one, but we all had a lot of fun! Jay and I did each course twice and were content so we watched them go around a few more times. 🙂 We ended the day with Mexican before heading home to unpack and unwind! It was a really fun weekend and the kids got along for the most part. I am so happy we had this past weekend to do something like that. I just wish we had been able to do it earlier in the summer! Below are some photos from our weekend getaway!
