I had the pleasure of working with Nik and Heather for their engagement session at Maymont. They were so much fun to work with and I enjoyed getting to know them and hear about their wedding plans.
Heather writes, “Nik and I are both military brats. Our dads both served in the Air Force so we traveled a lot and went to multiple schools. Coincidentally, we both went to high school in Spain AND, his sister and I were friends in high school, so I would see him when I hung out with her. After graduating high school, my family and I moved to Virginia, and his family moved to Iowa. A few years and facebook friending later, Nik found me.
After rekindling through facebook, he came to visit me a few years ago for my birthday…I even got him to jump out of a plane! We lived quite a distance from each other so we attempted the long distance relationship for a while. Eventually, I found us a place here in VA and he transferred his work to here. A year and a half went by and we flew to Colorado to a family reunion. In this little tiny town up in the mountains, we were walking around town and went to the little garden. He got down one knee and asked me to marry him. Little did I know, his and my entire family knew about it and my grandma actually almost ruined the surprise by calling me a few days before and asked if there’s anything I need to tell her! Needless to say, I was completely surprised and said yes! It was an absolutely amazing weekend in the mountains.”
Enjoy some of my favorites from their session!
