Well, this post is coming out a bit late!  Im going to try to make it short and sweet!  It was a busy weekend for us!  Wednesday after Kaleigh’s end of the year party, we packed up and headed out to Virginia Beach for a mini vacation.  We stayed until Friday evening and even though the weather did not cooperate with us, we still managed to have a great time swimming in the pool, going to the aquarium, visiting the art show on the boardwalk, and eating delicious seafood!  All in all, it was a fun time…maybe our next trip we will be able to make it to the beach!  Saturday was Kaleigh’s 8th birthday!!  In case you missed her birthday session, your can view it here.  What a fun day that was!  Kaleigh opened her gifts that morning and ate her favorite birthday breakfast(cinnamon rolls) and then her and I took a special trip to Target to get a diary she had been wanting.  After, we went to Nana and  Papa’s for Madison’s graduation(Congrats again Madison!!)  Rick and Gigi took Kaleigh to her favorite store(Justice) and Barnes and Noble for some birthday shopping and then we all met up at Stevie B’s for dinner…again, Kaleigh’s choice!  I think its so funny that out off all the places she could have chosen, she decided Stevie B’s was the top choice. 🙂  Sunday was Father’s Day(Happy Belated Father’s Day to all the great dads out there!)  We spent the day relaxing by the pool…I don’t think it could have been any more perfect!  Needless to say, this weekend was a busy one but there were so many great festivities that made for some great memories!  This week will be spent working, cleaning, and preparing for my wedding…along with trying to adjust to having two kids at home all day!  Easier said than done!  😉

Eight years ago, today, I became a mother.  Words can never describe the complete joy I felt when I met Kaleigh for the first time.  She was so tiny and alert( I never would have expected less….she kicked and flipped around for months!)  The moment I held her in my arms, my world was forever changed.  I had new meaning in my life and a love like no other.  I honestly did not know just how much you could love a person until I met her that day.  Kaleigh is such an amazing young girl and its hard to believe how grown up she is.  She is smart, independent, and full of life.  She has SO much determination and a real eagerness to learn and please others.  She reads more than anyone else I know and catches on to things so quickly!  I simply cannot believe that  years have gone by so quickly.  It seems like just yesterday I was holding her for the first time ever….There are so many things I love about her…from her witty personality and contagious laughter to her loving heart and devotion to anything she does.

I cannot imagine a world without Kaleigh Marie….born on June 16th at 12:19 p.m….weighing in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces and 19 /12 inches long.

Words that come to mind when I describe Kaleigh….intelligent, kind, determined, strong-willed, independent, beautiful, fabulous, helpful, responsible, hard-working, talented, entertaining, gifted, courageous, and wonderfully amazing.

Happy, Happy Birthday sweet Kaleigh.  I love you with all my heart.

We had a great couple of days this past weekend!  Kaleigh and I went on a camping trip with her girl scout troop on Friday afternoon and it was a BLAST!  The girls did everything from making a fire, and going on a letter box hunt, to making a craft, sleeping in a tent and swimming in the creek!  Aside from the two foxes and raccoon who kept roaming around trying to steal our food, the entire trip could not have been more perfect.  The weather was beautiful and the girls are at a great age where they enjoy doing things like this.  Even the “work” like collecting wood for the fire and setting the table for dinner was fun for them.  I was so happy that Kaleigh got to experience such wonderful things…many of which were firsts for her.  It makes me excited for what is in store for the summer!

Saturday we took it easy and went to the Goochland Drive-In Theater.  The kids LOVED it!  If there is one thing you should do this summer, it should be the drive-in.  Not only can you see a movie, but they open the gates early and there is a playground and concession stand(where everything is under $3.50!)  Its such a fun experience for both kids and adults!  And the best part…its cheap!  We paid $20 for all of our tickets to see a new release movie!  Carter asked if we could go back again yesterday haha!  Im sure we will go back sooner than later!

On another note, Kaleigh has FOUR days left of school!  I know she is so excited to have the summer off and I cant wait to make a calender of all the fun things we will do this summer!  This past year has gone by so quickly, I honestly cannot believe that this week is her LAST week of school!  Wow!  I’d really love to hear about summer plans that you all have coming up….a special trip?  Any fun activities/places to go you would like to share??  🙂

Needless to say, this week will be jammed packed with parties and other end-of-the-school-year activities!  I do have some downtime from photo sessions to sort of slip into summer so thats good!  I am just hoping I dont go crazy this summer with two children in the house all. day. long.  Whew!  Better get to planning….

The photo below was taken during the camping trip!  I am already looking forward to next year’s trip!

If you don’t know already, Alexa and I have known each other for years.  We were very close friends in high school so when she asked if I would do her engagement session and wedding, I was SO thrilled!  I had the pleasure of meeting David during our engagement session together and they both just seemed so happy!  It was so fun getting to know David, reconnecting with Alexa, and seeing them interact with each other.  And if that wasn’t awesome enough, they are such a beautiful couple so the photos were amazing!  I had been looking forward to shooting their wedding for so long and couldn’t believe that it was finally here!  I did Alexa’s bridals just a few short weeks ago and was ecstatic when I could finally post them!  Is she not the most gorgeous girl?!!  Ok!  Enough talk, onto the wedding photos!

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon when David and Alexa were married.  Despite the HUGE crowd of people welcoming President Obama to the Seigel Center in Richmond, which thankfully did not cause any trouble with parking, their wedding day could not have been more perfect!  Their chosen colors were so vibrant and colorful…everyone looked amazing!  It was such an honor to be a part of this day for these two.  They deserve all the happiness in the world!  Congrats again to you both, I wish you all the best in your lives together!  Love you both!  PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGE PIN IMAGEGorgeous!
